Meet Tricky

Tricky Prospect's journey to Remember Me Rescue is a powerful reminder of why Thoroughbred aftercare matters.

In 2016, Tricky was an 18-year-old Thoroughbred stallion who had spent years at Texas A&M University–Commerce. When he was no longer part of the university's program, he was sent to a small Texas livestock auction, where his future was anything but certain.

Thankfully, Kimberly Underwood spotted his paperwork and helped bring attention to his situation. Remember Me Rescue stepped in, purchasing Tricky for just $385 and giving him the second chance he deserved.

But there's so much more to Tricky than his remarkable rescue story.

Now 28 years young, Tricky is one of the sweetest souls at Remember Me Rescue. Kind, affectionate, and playful, he loves a good grooming session and never misses an opportunity to splash around in his water trough. He's the kind of horse who makes everyone around him smile.

Perhaps the most beautiful part of Tricky's story is the friendship he shared with Hero's Crown. When Hero lost his sight, Tricky became his guide and best friend, helping him navigate a world he could no longer see. Their bond was a beautiful example of the compassion horses can show one another.

Although Hero is no longer with us, the friendship they shared will always be a treasured part of Tricky's story.

From a horse facing an uncertain future at auction to a beloved sanctuary resident who became another horse's eyes, Tricky reminds us that every horse has something extraordinary to give when someone gives them a chance.
