Our Story
Every Thoroughbred has a story worth telling.
From celebrated champions to the horses whose names never made headlines, we believe every racehorse deserves a meaningful life beyond the track.
Lights on Broadway | 2001 Texas Horse of the Year
Where It All Began
Remember Me Rescue was founded in 2008 following the rescue of Lights on Broadway, the 2001 Texas Horse of the Year.
Once a celebrated champion, Lights was discovered in a trailer bound for slaughter in Canada. His story sparked a mission that continues today: ensuring Thoroughbreds have the opportunity for a meaningful life beyond racing.
Founded by racehorse trainers and dedicated volunteers, Remember Me grew from one horse's story into an organization committed to giving retired racehorses the care, preparation, and opportunities they deserve.
A Thoughtful Approach to Thoroughbred Aftercare
Many of our horses come directly from their racing connections, who want to ensure a safe and successful transition to life beyond the track.
Every horse has different needs. Some require rest and rehabilitation, while others are ready to begin retraining for a new career. We provide individualized care and preparation to help each horse succeed.
When resources allow, we also help Thoroughbreds facing uncertain futures through the auction pipeline. Regardless of how they arrive, our goal is the same: to give every horse a strong foundation and the opportunity to thrive in a loving, responsible home.
